Abstract:
We propose and demonstrate a method to detect and amplify wideband low-power RF signals using a stimulated Brillouin scattering-based tunable optoelectronic oscillator (OEO), which shows a detection frequency ranging from 1 to 17 GHz and a maximum amplification factor of 29 dB. The received RF signal is detected and amplified when it matches the potential oscillation mode of the OEO. A detection accuracy of +/- 40 MHz and an average gain of 17 dB are realized in the experiment. To the best of our knowledge, they are the widest frequency detection range and highest magnification effect achieved by an OEO-based signal detector.
